28th session of the Intergovernmental Council on Exploration Use and Protection of Subsoil Resources

Bekasyl Aukeshev, Executive Director of the KAZRC Association, spoke at the 28th session of the Intergovernmental Council on Exploration Use and Protection of Subsoil Resources in Astana.

Since 2016 the Republic of Kazakhstan represented by the KAZRC Association has been a member of the International Committee on Standards for Public Reporting of Mineral Resources and Reserves (CRIRSCO). The association actively cooperates with international organizations and is open to sharing its experience.

“As of August 1, 2025, the Geology Committee has accepted 260 KAZRC reports prepared by 96 competent persons with the participation of 41 readers.

What do these figures show?

First, the steady flow of KAZRC reports is a key indicator of the standard’s acceptance by the market and regulators.

Second, expanding the pool of qualified persons/QMRs and readers reduces operational risks, such as incorrect classification of resources and reserves or incompatibility of methodologies.

Thirdly, CPD coverage is a marker of the maturity and self-sustainability of the ecosystem,” noted Bekasyl Aukeshev.

He also emphasized that today the Association comprises 13 organizations, including public associations of independent experts and professional organizations in the field of subsoil use.

“Kazakhstan is the only country in Central Asia that is a member of CRIRSCO. The KAZRC Association, together with PONEN, actively shares its experience in implementing international standards. On this basis, we propose to combine the efforts of friendly countries and approve the KAZRC Association as a regional hub for the implementation of international standards of public reporting, as well as to create a Unified Community of Competent Persons in Central Asia,” said Bekasyl Aukeshev.
